    Relevance and purpose of the course
    The course is aimed at introducing students to a set of basic communication situations in which knowledge of the Russian language is updated and social norms and standards adopted in Russia are acquired. A variety ofcommunication situations (self-presentation, arrival at the airport, visitingthe doctor, ina cafe, at thetheater, study at the university, etc.) are aimed at effective and active interaction in theforeignlanguage society. The course materials include bothtext tasks (monologues and dialogues)andauthentic video materials demonstrating real locations in Russia.

    As a result, while doing the course, students will get acquainted with a set of basic communication situations, in which they will master essential communication skills and social norms adopted in Russia.

    Relevance and purpose of the course
    The course is aimed at mastering the basics of spoken Russian at the A1 level. Speaking practice within the course targets topics directly related to the peculiarities of students' cultural and educational background.Each topic un folds in the dialogue of cultures, i.e.in comparison with traditional Russian phenomena.

    The course materials contain information about the specifics of meeting others and initiating a conversation in Russian, about the use of names, forms of addressing people and introducing oneself. During the course, students will learn how to talk about their country and their surroundings, and how to engage in a dialogue on relevant topics. Along with reproductive types of activities aimed at the formation of speaking skills, productive tasks that are communicatively significant in the modern information space are supposed to be done: creating your own greeting card, writing SMS messages, e-mails and filling informs and profiles in Russian. Performing communication-oriented tasks, students will consolidate their skills.

    Relevance and purpose of the course
    The course is aimed at a consistent,organized in several stages, development of foreign students' communication skills. At the first stage, students are assumed to get acquainted with Russia and other countries as compared to their native location, learn the Russian alphabet and reading rules. At the next stage, the Russian language acquisition procedes on thematic content related to animals and plants, typical both of Russia and the students' country. Comparative study of seasons and the seasonal inherent traditions in Russia and in the students' countries of the listeners becomes special. At the third stage, the Russian language is learnt with in the topics Friends and Hobbies, which un fold in the dialogue of cultures, i.e.comparing traditional Russian hobbies with those in the students' countries.

    Thus, step-by-step teaching will launch the process of learning the Russian language and Russian culture quickly, on a tight schedule. Adapted texts of no more than 150 words, thematically covering socio-cultural spheres in accordance with the course topics, are offered. Skills are developed through a series of standard tasks (a system of questions, guessing the meanings of unknown words, analyzing etiquette formulas and speech patterns, etc.).

    As a result, while doing the course, students will gain information about Russia and the Russian language, learn how to compare cultural phenomena with similar ones of their own country.

    Relevance and purpose of the course
    The course is aimed at familiarizing students with the specifics of Russian speech formulas used in texts of various functional types. The communicative tasks offered in this course cover various areas of language use – business communication (capability to fill in a profile / declaration upon entry into the country), scientific communication (studying a text about the geographical location of Russia and Perm), literary texts (reading Russian folk tales "Kolobok", "Turnip", "Teremok" and others). Besides working on written texts, students practise basic patterns used in speech communication, for example, during a telephone conversation. Students are offered texts and tasks aimed at developing communication skills.

    As a result, while doing the course, students will get acquainted with a number of basic speech formulas that are used by native speakers of the Russian language in texts of various functional types (business, scientific and literal).

    Relevance and purpose of the course
    The course is aimed at introducing students to basic patterns of speech etiquette, as well as key phrases used in everyday formal and informal communication situations.
    The course materials contain information about the peculiarities of using Russian names (full and short), the specifics of Russian patronyms and the situations in which their use is necessary. Communicative tasks that are offered to students are aimed at defining the specifics of social and speech interaction in everyday life.So, the course models situations of getting to the right address (shop, pharmacy, university, bank, etc.); describing one's well-being / health and wishing health to the interlocutor; congratulating (orally or in writing) the interlocutor on a holiday; accepting / rejecting an invitation to a meeting; behavingproperly at a party (the culture of presenting a gift, the linguistic and cultural characteristics of a toast), etc.

    As a result, while doing the course, students will get acquainted with a number of basic patterns of speech etiquette, as well as with some key phrases for everyday communication in formal and informal settings.

    Relevance and purpose of the course
    The aim of the course is both to provide the initial level of proficiency in the Russian language and to contribute to shaping the students' idea about Russia and Russian people. The course facilitates the development of language skills for students to communicate with native speakers, as well as with those using Russian as an intermediary language. The acquired skills are supposed to satisfy foreign citizens' basic needs in socio-cultural spheres of communication.


    The course materials familiarize students with Russian realia and develop communication skills in common situations (get acquainted, indicate one's age, tell a phone number, choose clothes or other goods, describe appearance or character), which enables effective participating in everyday conversations. Basic phonetical, lexical and grammatical units will be introduced. The thematic units of appearance, age, character, parts of body, time and money, hobbies and clothes will be designed during the classes. Accordingly, doing the course, students will practise a variety of speech patterns, essential for real communication with Russians.
